Top Boating Destinations

Perhaps you have a sailboat or a yacht and want to know where to go next. On the other hand, maybe you have some other smaller watercraft, like a speedboat or larger motorboat, and you don’t mind taking it on a little road trip to some nice waterways and destinations for boating. Either way, it is possible to go to one of these top boating destinations with your water vehicle and have an incredible time:

1. The Bahamas
The weather in the Bahamas is almost always beautiful, and you can use your luxury boat to enjoy the sun and surf there for a weekend or a week. A yacht or sailboat should be able to make the longer voyage from an inland waterway or coastal town to these famous islands. If you have a large speed boat instead, it’s recommended that you leave the Florida Keys with a full tank of fuel, as well as several backup tanks of fuel, to get to the Bahamas. However, the trip is still doable.

2. Newport, Rhode Island
Newport is a beautiful and tranquil seaside port in Rhode Island. Its arching bridge and lighthouses paint an idyllic seaside scene. You can also dock or moor your boat right on the water for a fee. Proof of boat insurance may be required if you are going to rent a mooring location in a port.

3. San Juan Islands, Washington
This archipelago is located within Washington state, and the islands themselves are nestled in between the main coastline of the state and Vancouver Island in Canada. The San Juan Islands feature gorgeous natural beaches mixed with northwestern foliage and wildlife. Sail there and dock on one side of the island to spend the day exploring and sunbathing.

4. San Francisco, California
San Francisco, California has been a seaside town since it was first established over a hundred and forty years ago. Take your yacht right up to the clubs along the shore, show them your yacht insurance, and dock for the night or several nights; there’s a lot to see and do in this city, so you might want to stay awhile.

5. Isle Royale National Park, Michigan
Situated on the shores of one of the largest Great Lakes in the region, Isle Royale National Park offers the best of both land and sea to tourists. Boat, fish, and swim in the crystal clear waters of Lake Superior, and camp out on its shores in the park area at night. Pre-registration for camping and/or docking are necessary, and summer is the busiest season, so be sure to plan ahead if you want to travel here.

6. South Florida
South Florida has warm tropical waters, ocean fishing, and hundreds of small islands to explore. The Florida Keys, some of which can only be reached by boat, are especially popular. Sail around the southern coast of the panhandle, or pick a beach on which to dig clams. It’s all here for any kind of boat and any kind of boat owner.
